●Freebies are free services or products provided to people. In indian politics schemes containing Freebies is frequently introduced. For example – Free/subsidised water, free/subsidised electricity etc. In hindi it is referred to as ‘Muftkhori’.

●Types of Freebies-

☆Type 1 –

Freebies of basic things.
(based on necessity)
For example – water, electricity, food, cycles, public buses, mid-day meals etc.

☆Type 2 –

Freebies which are not based on necessity.(Freebies of luxury items)
For example – Colour TV, gold, scooters etc.

☆Type 3 –

Freebies of this category are not necessary but they help to bring social happiness and improve quality of life till certain limits.
(Based of Social Requirements)
For Example – Public Parks, grounds, gardens, zoo etc.

●Which Type of Freebies should be provided?

After learning about all types of Freebies, Type 1 and Type 3 Freebies should only be provided. Type 1 Freebies should be the 1st priority.

●Advantages of Freebies-

Reduces Financial or Social Burden/Problems
Increases Literacy rate.
Helps people to live a basic good life.

●Disadvantages of Freebies-

Undue, Illegal usage of Freebies for personal benefit.
For example – Selling surplus subsidised food items provided by government to gain profit, lending/ selling properties or vehicles given by government.
Freebies introduced only for a certain caste, religion, gender, communityetc.
Developing a habit of getting Freebies by the people.
Careless Attitude towards resources after obtaining Freebies.

●Relation of Freebies in Indian Politics-

Nearly Every Indian Political party promises Freebies to the people. Freebies are benefits that directly impact the people in short time. Since people are effected by Freebies in short time, they may not support a party which promises for more long term policies instead of short term and immediate effecting schemes. Hence, Many political parties and candidates promise Freebies to get more votes.

Freebies can be provided when a state has surplus funds after funding other sectors of the state like health, education etc. A state which is not under great debt and can manage providing Freebies without increasing the debt of the country/state. Freebies should be provided only in the presence of surplus funds. Some states or countries provide Freebies to get more votes, increasing debt, which leads to negative long term effects like debt crisis etc.

●Freebies are good or bad?
•Conclusion-

☆If the Freebies are based on necessity aur social factors, they are affordable for the government to provide without taking loans then they are good in this case.

☆If Freebies are based on wants, luxury and is not a necessity, not affordable for government, government has to take loans to provide Freebies, then Freebies are bad in this case.

☆Freebies are Good or Bad this depends on situations, region, necessity, society, economy, priority and other factors.
